Paramore

Well, if you haven’t heard of these guys, quite frankly, where have you been!?!
Google them, listen to some of there stuff, then come back!
Fuelled by some Twilight style backing this incredibly talented punk/rock/pop band have continued conquering the world one catchy anthem at a time.  However, they were doing similar things on a smaller scales for years before anyone had ever heard of Edward Cullen or the Volturi.
Fronted by extremely strong and beautifully unique Hayley Williams, the band pump out song after song and all that goes through my mind is ‘they can’t top this’.  But they do, again and again, with yet another strange mix of catchy riffs, female vocals and rocking guitar solos.
Their first album is called All We Know Is Falling, bizarre for a band who’s main desire was to rise, not fall. The best track on the album, I believe, is Emergency.  Hayley really throws out the vocals and I can’t help but do the same.  The most difficult thing ever to do, which I attempted today on my way back from London, is to listen to Paramore’s songs while on a train.  First comes the head movements, then the lip syncing, then the facial movement and you have to have so much self control not to scream out the lyrics and jump up and down!
They bettered All We Know Is Falling with the perfectly entitled Riot!  That’s exactly what this album was, a riot of emotions.  And with each emotion came a new song and style.  The hit single Misery Business is a highlight, along with That’s What You Get and Hallelujah.  The band really come out of their own in this album and produce some more rocking tunes and raving melodies.  This much anticipated album satisfied the waiting fans and whetted their appetites for more Paramore tunes.  They had to wait two and a half years before their thirsts were quenched.
Autumn 2009 saw the release of their latest album, Brand New Eyes.  They shocked many fans by releasing a record full of original music, surpassing the standard they set for themselves in their previous two albums.  The album sees the band grow up, with Hayley only 20 years old during the recording process!  The album has beautiful tracks like ‘The Only Exception’, the classic angry-shouting-in-the-mirror songs like ‘Playing God’ and the recently-released single ‘Brick by Boring Brick’.  This is definitely a must own CD for any Paramore fan, but if you are going to buy just one Paramore album, this should be the one.  The band may have realised that in their other albums their sound is almost on just one level, which they smashed perfectly.  However on this most recent album, their ability to vary their sound comes through and that makes for very interesting and enjoyable listening.
Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get to their 2009 tour but hopefully they will return some time in the next 18 months for more of us to experience them live!

Buy the album, listen to the songs and get some tickets to go and see them in concert (and pleeeeeeeeee, pretty please, buy me some while you’re at it)!!
