Rumours… Rumours… Rumours…
Well, there have been many rumours flying around theatreland the last few days!! Let me reiterate….these are RUMOURS!! None confirmed, all from the trusted world that is FaceBook!
So, it has been said that Kerry Ellis may extend her run in Oliver! The Musical at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane to its closing date in March 2011. She is currently playing the role of Nancy in the production and it is published that she will leave the cast on October 2nd 2010, just after the release of her debut album, Anthems.
It has also been suggested that Kerry may take up the role of Fiona in Shrek.
And…..someone somewhere in the world heard that Ashleigh Gray may be looking to join the cast of We Will Rock You!!
About a month ago, rumours were flying around Musical Land because some very clever rumour-starter wrote on Ashleigh Gray’s Wikipedia page that she was considering the role of Nancy!
Numerous times, Oliver Tompsett’s name has been placed alongside the character of Warner in Legally Blonde…
While these are all rumours…I must ask…where do these start?? With the Ashipedia-gate, the comment was removed within 24 hours and gossip died down. It will be very interesting, in 5 months time to assess to what extent there are truth in them!

Ashleigh confirmed to my face that the Nancy thing had no truth, and nor did the engagement thing…so she has no idea why Wikipedia said that! As for WWRY….fingers crossed!
Pretty sure the Kerry as Fiona one just started as wishful thinking and then someone decided to take that as fact, like how most rumours start… I don’t even think she’s auditioned for it, she’s not really right for the role!
These rumours are hilariois, its been confirmed that Jodie Prenger is going back into oliver to close the show, one of the main reasons for there being three ladies in the lakes, and another reason why they are recording a new uk cast cd!
Richard Fleeshman is contracted for 12months for Legally Blonde and the name associated as forerunner for Shrek is Sheridan Smith and timmings work a dream between her leaving LB and starting Bridget Jones!
The only “Warner” connected to Oliver Tompsett is Warner Bros, with whom he is recording his new album. Haven’t heard anything about”Warner” in Legally Blond.
As it turns out…next to none of these rumours were true!!! Theatreland remains undisturbed…except I wish it would give Ashleigh Gray a job! MH
