Wizard of Oz to take over at London Palladium
As all you theatre fans will know the revival of The Wizard of Oz is due to be coming soon to the West End and now it has been confirmed that Andrew Lloyd Webber’s forthcoming show will take over from Sister Act at the London Palladium Theatre in March 2011.
No doubt if you’re a big fan of musicals you will have also followed the BBC show Over the Rainbow which found the best Dorothy and Toto to star in the new production.
The winner of the TV talent show will go on to tread the boards at the Palladium Theatre and the show is due to open on the 29th March 2011.
The competition was eventually won by Danielle Hope, 18, who stunned TV audiences with perfomances of Mambo Italiano and On My Own from Les Miserables.
The current show at the London Palladium, Sister Act the musical, will have its last performance on the 1st January 2011 in order to make way for the setup of The Wizard of Oz.
The Wizard of Oz will be a production of the L. Frank Baum novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was made into a film in 1939 starring Judy Garland and has proved to be a massive family favourite so, no doubt the stage adaptation will go down a treat with audiences in the West End.
You can get your tickets from Londontheatre.com and read more about the show online.
